The Power of Superfoods

Updated on March 17, 2016

Superfoods are Powerfoods

Recently there has been talk about superfoods and their popularity is spreading. Superfoods are foods that contain a high concentration of phytonutrients. These nutrients are said to have a number of health benefits within a single food item. Superfoods have a large amount of controversy surrounding them however; their nutritional value cannot be denied. Foods being marketed as Superfoods have been banned in some areas unless there is scientific evidence to back the claim.

What are the superfoods?

These foods have been reported to have properties, which classify them as superfoods. This means they are high in a large number of nutrients and are good for providing the body with what it needs quickly. Goji Berries, Cacao beans, Blueberries, Raspberries, bilberry, blackberry, coffee berry, bee pollen, honey, Acai, Aloe Vera, Cholorella, Spirulina, Phobiotics, Noni fruit, Yacon Root, Rose hips, Quinoa, Watercress, Soy, Papaya, Flax seed are all superfoods. Broccoli, Alfalfa, Oranges, Orange and lemon peel, Spinach, Tomatoes, Walnuts, Dandelion, Burdock and Burdock Root, Kale, Celery, parsley, Ginger, Beet, Lemon grass and Hemp seeds are all superfoods as well.

While there are a number of "exotic" foods but also a number that are part of the everyday diet of many of us and are easily found at regular grocery stores. The others can usually be found at health food stores or even found online and shipped directly to you.

Superfoods are super because they exceed the requirements of protein, minerals, glyconutrients, immune system requirements, they can also help to detoxify the body and provide everything we need to lead a healthy life. Not only that they can be made into anything and added to anything. They make great additions to salads, entrees, and desserts. There are herbs and fruits that can be made into teas for a quick pick up.

These foods are nutritional powerhouses, containing ingredients that help to fight cancer, provide good healthy fats, antioxidants, and minerals. These foods help to fight off all sorts of diseases, act as preventative measures by providing the body with nutrients in chronically deficient areas and help to keep everything working in top form by helping the body to keep itself toxin free.

Superfoods also help to fight the signs of aging

Superfoods also help to fight the signs of aging. Environmental factors as well as the processed foods we eat contribute to premature aging. By eating these superfoods and changing to a healthier lifestyle it is easy to reverse the signs of aging gaining a healthier and younger appearance.

These superfoods because they are packed to overflowing with the things our bodies need to function at their best are great for providing energy that helps to keep the mind alert and the body going. That means that you are better able to handle stress and busy schedules without getting rundown. It also means that the body needs less in order to function at its best.

The lifestyles of many people are largely running around in an office building, sitting in front of a computer, and coming home exhausted, unable to spend time with family or find the time to get in a good amount of regular exercise. With superfoods, less equals more. You can have the energy to run around all day, and still have some left at the end of the day. You can get more out of your exercise routine because you have more energy and you have less toxins already in your system. This means your body can work on building muscle and staying in shape rather than detoxification.

Superfoods can also help you to stay healthier

Superfoods can also help you to stay healthier by providing valuable elements that the immune system needs to stay function at its best. Superfoods also help keep the liver purified and that helps to prevent colds, fevers and infections. You can get even more power out of your superfoods by combining them and eating them together.

It is a process call synergy. This is where the elements of one thing bring out more of the elements of another when placed together. For example, make the most out of your tomatoes and onions by eating them together the elements of onions bring out the best in your tomatoes.

As research advances, more and more foods are being added to the categories of superfoods. The things they have in common however are the huge concentrations of nutrients. The power of superfoods is not anything new. People have known for centuries that eating certain types of foods and eating them certain ways helps the body do what it is suppose to do. Nutritionists have been saying for years. Eating these foods helps the body, eating healthy raw foods is the way to prevent disease. Up until recently however, they have widely been ignored by the general public. However, the increase in disease, obesity and other serious health issues has made people more aware of what they could and should be doing in order to stay healthy.

Superfoods provide all the essentials for a healthier body

If you have a busy schedule and do not have the time, it takes to prepare meals or you spend more time traveling then you do at home.
